The first picture is from the roof of our hostel in Florence. The second is looking up at the Cathedral of Saint Maria of Florence. The third has the Ponte Vecchio in the background. It was a bride used by the Medici Family to cross over into the city. The fourth is a picture from the Ponte Vecchio looking out at Florence and the mountains.
I will be traveling in Europe for a little over five weeks this summer starting on June 13 and ending July 22. The first part of the trip is academia related consisting of time spent in Germany and Poland. In Germany, about thirty students and I from the Global Leadership Center at Ohio University will be completing collaborative work with students from the University of Leipzig. We will be finishing policy papers pertaining to German and American relations in the areas of environment, security and economics. My teammates and I have been focusing on German and U.S. approaches to debt relief in developing nations, specifically Ecuador. When the policy papers are finished, we will be presenting to consulates at the embassy where our papers will be taken for recommendation consideration. Our trip to Poland is an introduction to our project that will being fall quarter. We will mostly be taking part in leadership conferences while in Warsaw and Krakow. After the academic portion of the summer concludes, I will be traveling with four other girls - Diana, Tara, Abby and Jackie - to Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Paris, Barcelona and Madrid (where I will be celebrating my 21st birthday). Throughout the summer I will be blogging about my journey and posting pictures along the way. Feel free to ask questions and comment as you please :)
