Traveling

Hey everyone,
Sorry it took so long for me to post; we have been having a lot of issues with the internet.  It is now Tuesday night (Wednesday morning) at about 1:30AM, and I was able to successfully get the internet up and working about 3 minutes ago.

My travel journey took a lot longer than I realized it would.  I left for home with my parents and Nick around 5AM on Saturday and finally arrived in my dormitory around 11:30PM on Sunday.  Although it took a long time, travel went very smooth.  Most of our flights were faster than expected, so our long layovers went even longer.  Our layover in Boston ended up being around 8 hours, so we left the airport and went out on the town.  I have some pretty cool pictures of the harbor and sailboats.  We looked at a map of the city and I saw the spot for Old North Church (National Treasure reference anyone?).  Sad to say, I did not really get to see the church.  I loved the city though.  Just from being there I could see how much history the town has, and I would love to go back one day and actually get a tour (on a trolly of course!).  Diana, one of the girls I am traveling with, said "This looks more like Europe than America."  (I guess that's what you get in a New England town)  Needless to say, it was a perfect location for a layover before our trip in Europe.

After we were on the city for a few hours, we went back to the airport and slept for awhile in the terminal before we flew to Dublin.  The flight was fun; I watched three movies: The Reader, Taken and Changeling.  There was a lot of turbulence, but it was still a fun flight.  We only had about an hour between sunset and sunrise, so the sky was absolutely beautiful for the whole flight.

Our layover in Dublin was not very long, but the security there was very intense.  The flight from Dublin to Frankfurt only lasted about an hour.  In Frankfurt we had about 8 hours until we had to catch a train to Leipzig.  So, we made our way to the train station from the airport after about a half an hour of being confused and learning how the system worked.  Then we locked our luggage in lockers and went out to lunch, where we enjoyed our first German beer.  Then we back to the train station where we slept on the floor and woke up about two hours before our train to realize that we were not at the right station.  We were at Frankfurt Main, not Frankfurt Main Sud.  So two men that were from Frankfurt in a band with an African drum (which I so badly wanted to play) helped us find our way.

The train ride to Leipzig was very nice.  I have never ridden on an actual train before, as far as I can remember, and it was a very good first experience.  However, we did try to sit in first class at first without knowing it (although I did not see any difference between first and second class to be honest).  When we arrived in Leipzig, we were greeted by three of our teammates to then took us to our dorms (if you want to know more about the dorms, read the next post).

Paz y Amor,
Laura
