Warsaw!

Hey everyone,
I am safely in Poland.  The internet is working well here, no problems like in Germany.  The train rides were a tad bit stressful.  Our first one, from Leipzig to Berlin was ten minutes late, and we only had like 15 minutes to transfer.  However, a very nice young man on the train helped us communicate to the conductor, so he radioed ahead and other train to wait.  After that, it was smooth sailing.  I caught up on my journaling and I finished reading "The Sunflower".  Thank you very very much Mrs. Van Horn getting me that book for Christmas, it was awesome.  Very inspiring.  We have to be ready tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 8:30 to meet with our teammates from Poland that we will be working with in the fall.

Paz y Amor,
Laura

  1. Poland here they are! No matter where you travel in this great world there always seems to be someone (like the "very nice young man") who is there to help you along your way. Look for a young (18 to 40) year old well dressed young man, and he can do it. Right on! Careful not to tell any Polish jokes while you're there, Laura. Love, the Alfred Grands

  2. Glad to hear you made it to Poland safe and sound. A train trip through Europe - something I would love to do one day. Hope the weather is good. 90+ today in Cleveland and terrible thunderstorms. Hope these do not travel Nick's way. No word from the biker for 2 days. Dan has arrived in Las Vegas. Pat is hanging in there today. Love from the Van Horns

  3. Hi Toots,
Glad to hear that you made it safely to Poland. Sounds like your travels were an adventure. Thank goodness for nice young men who are willing to help. All of your pictures from Germany have been great. You looked super (in your suit) for your presentation. Sounds like you were really prepared - just as we would guess you would be. The trip to Syracuse was a sucess. Brian's apartment is nice. The university is in the middle of the city. Seems like a pretty neat place. We left on Tuesday and returned on Wednesday. A group of AD's greeted us and helped us unload his things. What a bonus!! Sent Nick a text message, but I've had trouble getting into his blog. Hopefully, I'll be more successful tonight. Hope he's enjoying better weather than we've had here - a lot of rain lately. Dad and I are planning to travel to Alfred for the anniversaries. Hope all goes well in Poland. Can't believe over a week has gone by already. Enjoy every moment. We love you. Mom
