Work Hard, Play Hard

I have actually had a lot of free time since we have been here.  The first night (Monday night) the Germans threw us a Welcome BBQ with tons of food and beer.  However, I did not eat much, because we ate with out teammates about two hours before, when I ate Tofu Schnitzel.  Schnitzel is a very common German food.  I do not know if I can even really explain it to you.  You can have pork, beef, tofu or feta, and there were about 60 ways to prepare it with different sauces and vegetables, etc.  It is basically fried, and I do not even know what, the Germans could not really even explain it to us.  I think it has to do with the height and width as well.  Either way it was very good.

After the BBQ on Monday,  I went shopping for some groceries and then about fifteen us of took the tram back to the city where we met about 8 of our German teammates and went out on the town with them.  It was raining a lot, so it wasn't very crowded out, but it was still a lot of fun.  All of the bars, restaurants and cafes have outside tables and people just hop from place to place socializing.

We have a lot of free time this upcoming weekend, so I think a couple of people and myself are going to take a train to Berlin, about an hour away, to see the remnants of the Wall and to tour the city.  So, I will be sure the tell you how that goes and to post a few pictures.  That is all for now.

Paz y Amor,
Laura

  1. Hi Laura, You are viewing and doing a lot! Hope that you got to Berlin. Your project sounds difficult and worthwhile - Knowing your great abilities, it will be well received. We've had 4 days of rain here but the sun is out this morning to pleasure the growing flowers and veggies. Thinking of you, kiddo.
